It’s a Magnet Sweep for the Seton Family of Hospitals

The reviews are in and once again Seton’s four largest acute care facilities have achieved the highest mark of nursing excellence: Magnet redesignation. This accomplishment, awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), represents the highest nursing designation given in the United States.

Recognizing quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice, Magnet designation provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of care that they can expect to receive.

The ANCC has commended Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, University Medical Center at Brackenridge, Seton Medical Center Austin and Seton Northwest Hospital on – once again – being the only Central Texas facilities to achieve such an honor. The four-year designation was first given by ANCC in 2002.

The four facilities were judged on numerous criteria, including: commitment to quality of care, shared governance, interdisciplinary collaboration, process improvement, nurse autonomy, professional development and community.

Even though Magnet designation is specifically for the four hospitals, this accomplishment reflects a Seton culture of excellence in patient care throughout Setons’ facilities by all Seton healthcare disciplines practicing collaboratively.
