Highland Lakes Health System's 10th Anniversary.
Celebration of this important milestone included an anniversary ceremony and luncheon featuring guest speakers Charles J. Barnett, president and CEO, Seton Family of Hospitals; Sister Helen Brewer, Daughter of Charity, chair of Seton Family of Hospitals Board of Trustees; and Scott Fuller, vice president and COO, Seton Highland Lakes Hospital.
"We are honored to have served this community for the past decade," said Barnett, "and look forward to continuing our commitment to Highland Lakes residents through our outstanding hospital and its system of healthcare centers. Providing excellent healthcare close to home is -- and continues to be -- our goal."
Barnett added, "At the same time, we can provide patients in need of more complex services the quality healthcare they deserve through other member facilities of the Seton Family of Hospitals. Seton is the only regional network to offer heart transplants at Seton Medical Center Austin, two Certified Stroke Centers, University Medical Center at Brackenridge's Level II Trauma Center and Brain and Spine Center, and Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, a children's hospital that is considered one of the finest in the nation."
During the ceremony, the Reverend Ted Hervey of Burnet's Epiphany Episcopal Church presented a relic touched by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, founder of the Daughters of Charity, to Sister Helen Brewer. Following the event, guests were treated to a barbecue luncheon with all the trimmings. Later in the day associates employed by the Seton Highland Lakes Health System were treated to an old-fashioned ice cream social.
The public was invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary at an Open House featuring refreshments, guided tours of Seton Highland Lakes Hospital and medical technology demonstrations. Tour stops included the Imaging Department, Emergency Care Center, Physical Therapy, Surgery and Endoscopy, Intensive Care Unit and Infusion Therapy.
"Seton Highland Lakes has steadily expanded the healthcare services in this region since 1998 so residents can rely on high-quality care close to home," said Scott Fuller, president and COO, Seton Highland Lakes. "We are the only healthcare system here to offer a Level IV Trauma Center with around- the-clock care provided by board-certified emergency medicine physicians. Our patients also have access to the only intensive care unit, digital mammography, 64-slice CT scanner and hospitalists board-certified in internal medicine who provide inpatient care 24 hours a day. These are strides we proudly celebrate on our 10th anniversary. And it's only the beginning."
Looking toward the future, Seton Highland Lakes Health System has recruited the region's only pulmonologist and a new orthopedic surgeon who will offer total joint replacement surgeries. In addition the health system recently opened their fourth healthcare center, the Seton Lampasas Healthcare Center. The other healthcare centers within the Seton system are located in Bertram, Burnet and Marble Falls.

Seton is proud to have four hospitals – the only hospitals in Central Texas - that have earned the
