At Seton Shoal Creek Hospital we offer intensive outpatient programs specially designed for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17. Before beginning a program, patients are assessed and a treatment plan is created to meet their individual needs. Parents are required to attend sessions as noted below. This family-centered therapy provides the best structure for successful recovery.

Adolescent Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Group Schedule

Monday-Thursday 6 pm to 9 pm
Parents attend Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights

Our cognitively based program is specifically designed to assist adolescents with alcohol and chemical dependency. Utilizing the 12-step model, teens and their parents begin the road to recovery. Though the process, Parents learn to effectively support their teen. Patients may be required to participate in random urine screens to facilitate abstinence. Parents or legal guardians are required to participate be accompanying their teens to group sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. On Tuesday nights, teens work with a group leader on individual issues. Parents are asked to accompany their teens to the program floor prior to the session and return at the end of the program.

  • Acquire greater communication skills
  • Learn anger management
  • Gain essential coping skills
  • Adopt behaviors that enhance family relationships
  • Increase understanding of emotional illness and chemical dependency
  • Identify, challenge and modify distorted thoughts and beliefs
  • Improve ability to problem solve and cope with emotion crises
  • Work to change dysfunctional or destructive behavior or behavioral patterns
  • Learn to maintain abstinence and develop a sober support system

Seton Shoal Creek Hospital provides a treatment team of licensed professionals from multiple disciplines. Together, they provide a total system of healing for each patient. The treatment is supervised by an independent psychiatrist and supported by a fully licensed staff that includes registered nurses, social workers, professional counselors, certified therapists and mental health technicians. Our team encourages family involvement for a faster recovery.

Getting started is easy.

A physician’s referral is not necessary to begin treatment. Just schedule and appointment for a clinical evaluation with our outpatient assessment and referral department at 512.324.2039. During the assessment, costs will be provided and insurance benefits will be verified.
