A new beginning
At Seton Shoal Creek Hospital we offer intensive outpatient programs specially designed for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17. Before beginning a program, patients are assessed and a treatment plan is created to meet their individual needs. Parents are required to attend sessions as noted below. This family-centered therapy provides the best structure for successful recovery.

Sometimes managing normal adolescent development becomes increasingly difficult for everyone involved. Emotional struggles, stress or mental disorders may lead to impulsiveness, depression, anxiety or explosive behavior. Our cognitively based program is designed to assist patients and their families -- offering tools for improvement. Through family education and treatment, teens and parents work together to get well. By addressing mental health issues directly, families have greater opportunity to mend their lives and relationships. Parents or legal guardians are required to participate by accompanying their teens to a group sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, teens work with a group leader on individual issues. On these two nights, parents are asked to accompany their teens to the program floor prior to the session and return at the end of the program.
