The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Austin General Surgery Residency Program received its initial ACGME accreditation in June 2008 and our first categorical general surgery interns will begin July 2009. Our program is based primarily at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas and includes rotations at the UTMB-Galveston, Seton Medical Center and Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Like all categorical residency programs, application to our program here in Austin is made through the National Residency Matching Program. This is done using the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Information about how you can submit an application through ERAS is available from your school’s Dean of Students or Office of Student Services. All applications received through ERAS will be reviewed. Once your application is received via ERAS, it will go through a screening process. If you are chosen for an interview or if the program needs further documentation, you will be contacted via phone and email.
