Seton offers some of the safest, most advanced labor and delivery care available in Central Texas. From prenatal issues, through the birth of your baby and beyond, you'll be educated on all aspects of pregnancy, labor, delivery and parenting. We have numerous classes that include such topics as prenatal and postnatal exercises, Lamaze, breastfeeding, how to prepare siblings for the new arrival and how to organize your home, whether this is your first baby or not. Nursing staff and directors from all specialties attend regular meetings to review current strategies, discuss and adopt new practices and set goals. Seton is also involved in a national perinatal innovation group that sets standards for the safest possible care of mothers and infants. In cases where a newborn needs extra support, our Neonatal Intensive Care Units are staffed around the clock by board-certified neonatologists and specially trained nurses dedicated to transforming care at the bedside.

Our patients are cooing over our care.
At Seton Medical Center Austin, we’re used to rave reviews. An exceptional team of doctors and nurses is committed to providing the highest level of comprehensive maternity care. What’s more, a dedicated anesthesiologist is on-site 24/7, and our nurses are recognized with the nation’s highest award for nursing excellence. With a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, we’re among the most remarkably equipped to provide quality care for all newborns. But rest assured that state-of-the-art care doesn’t come at the expense of state-of-the-heart caring. Our newly remodeled maternity unit provides a nurturing welcome in a comfortably modern setting. In addition, an entire network of specialists throughout the Seton Family of Hospitals, including Children’s Hospital of Austin, is here for you. In fact, you’ve probably heard our praises being sung, even from the mouths of babes.

Our Mother/Baby rooms provide a comfortable place for new mothers and support persons to stay until it's time to go home. Each room has a private bathroom and telephone with a direct-dial phone number to give to family and friends. A television in each room allows 24-hour access to instructions for mother and baby care, both in English and Spanish. As a new mother you can keep your baby with you at all times or as much as you wish, as long as you both are healthy and there are no complications.

The Seton Family of Hospitals offers a full range of services, including maternity classes, to help make this time in your life a memorable and stress-free experience.
